UNBASIC BLACK

There is just something about the color black that makes me feel confident every time I put it on. I think it is so flattering, so simple and can look so effortless. I love adding texture to any monochrome look that I wear (see examples here & here), but I think it is especially important for an all black look because layered pieces can get lost in the dark color.

SEQUINS BEFORE SUNSET

Who decided that sequins and sparkle should be reserved for night time?? These sequin leggings are one of my favorite pieces in my closet and I hate the idea of having to wait for a dressy night out to wear them.

With a casual button down, simple shoes and an edgy jacket, these leggings are totally transformed into a daytime appropriate look!

VAMPIRE SLAYER

Yay for Halloween week! I'm not actually a huge fan of anything scary or anything pumpkin related really, but I do love the crisp, cool weather and the CANDY! I have the biggest sweet tooth ever & Halloween is my excuse to indulge myself.

Now that I'm out of college, I don't really celebrate the holiday by dressing up anymore, but I do like to get into that fun, spooky Halloween spirit, if possible. This Asos dress is the PERFECT piece to celebrate Halloween as an adult - I can wear it to work or out to dinner and feel festive without feeling silly or like I am wearing a costume!

GRAY DAY

I gotta tell you guys, there's nothing I love more than breaking a fashion rule. Today it's white after Labor Day. When Labor Day weekend approached, I did not even think about putting my white jeans away for the season. Winter white is more popular than ever & white jeans paired with oversize sweaters, like this perfect poncho, are perfect for the cooler months.

I am so incredibly obsessed with this poncho sweater. I love the look of oversize sweaters with super skinny jeans and I know this one borders on 'huge' on me, but we went from summer to winter weather in a matter of weeks so this was just the cozy piece I needed..seriously what happened to some nice, crisp fall weather around here?!

DESSANGE PARIS

As the temperatures start to drop and my tan fade away, my skin care routine is not the only one I start worrying about. All the wind and cold air can wreck havoc on my fine, color treated hair, so when I got the chance to try out some products from Dessange Paris, I jumped at the chance.

For Dessange Paris, hair care starts at the scalp, promising to help balance your hair.

I received a pre-shampoo clay mask, something I had never used before but was excited to test. I combed the clay through my hair and then hopped in the shower, waiting 5-10 minutes before rinsing it out. I love the idea of something that will keep my fine hair from getting oily too quickly, so I definitely plan to keep using for the next few weeks.

Following the clay mask, I used their purifying shampoo. This shampoo promised to help regulate oily roots and dry ends, so basically it sounds like it was made specially for me, since that is my hair! Plus - it smelled AMAZING!

To be honest, I'm not sure that I noticed a huge difference in the oiliness of my hair, however my hair did feel like it had just been shampooed at a salon ...you know the feeling of super, squeaky clean hair? I had that.

MAD FOR PLAID

This look is like the epitome of fall fashion. Plaid, plaid and more plaid. It doesn't get much better than that. Since the patterns stand out so much, a pair of black leggings and black booties made the perfect bottoms. This is definitely a fun look that breaks the rules a bit :)

There are seriously so many great matching sets out there in the world right now. I almost scared a girl half to death last week, because I just HAD to stop her on the street and ask her where her sweater/culotte set was from. It was from Zara, but it was old :(
