It's definitely been cold these last couple of weeks in January however, I was happy to report that we hadn't seen a single flurry yet. Of course, yesterday, I jinxed myself & we got a nice dusting of snow, so hopefully this post/link up are as timely and helpful to you as it was for me!
I have needed to bundle & layer a ton lately for the cold, especially in the mornings & at night when I am commuting to and from work. Down jackets can be unflattering & frankly just make me feel like the Michelin man, but they are sooo warm, so I've come up with a few ways to make puffy coats & winter boots look flattering.
1. Find a coat that belts or cinches at the waist. This tip is simple & will allow you to show off your shape no matter how puffy the jacket.
2. Wear slim pants. Slim pants/leggings paired with a puffy jacket & heavy boots will help balance out your proportions.
3. Add bright accessories to a dark colored coat. Make your coat fade into the background by adding fun accessories. Everyone will be too busy staring at your cute hat & gloves to notice how bundled up you are!
Coat: North Face | Sweater: c/o NY & Company (seen here) | Jeans: c/o DL1961 (obsessed with these!) | Hat: C Wonder (similar) | Gloves: c/o Old Navy (seen here) | Boots: Aldo (similar) | Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Have you had any snow in your area? How do you style your puffy jacket?
XO,
Michelle Paige

I agree! It shows off your shape underneath your coat!
DeleteSuch a great post! It's so easy to bundled up and lose every style element to your outfit. But, these photos are beautiful. I love the pops of blue throughout, so cute!

Thank you! This was such a fun photo shoot - I almost chickened out because of the snow, but I'm glad I didn't :)
DeleteI am loving your guide and am so on board with this - I usually go with long puffy coats since I feel like shorter ones make me look like a line backer, but a cinched waist is so important! Love the bright accessories and winter boots - you look perfect!

Such a great idea. I am in the market for a longer coat. With the freezing temps, this short one isn't doing a good job keeping my legs warm!
DeleteLOVE, LOVE the pops of blue! Those gloves look so comfy.
