Today's post is all about what to wear to fall weddings. I feel like I have been seeing SO many FB & Instagram photos of people attending weddings lately...so I thought I would give some insight into some great outfit ideas for attending a wedding during the next few weeks.
This dress was brought to my attention when my sister teamed up with Free to Move clothing to model some of their fall styles. As soon as she showed me the photos of this dress, I knew I had to have it. It's not the most practical for everyday wear, but at least I know I have the perfect dress for the next event that I have to attend.
If you are lucky enough to have a fall wedding or black tie event this season, a dress similar to this one is absolutely perfect for the occasion. I love that this dress mirrored the falling leaves and colors around me and while this piece is a maxi length, the unique print and open back make it appropriate for weddings ranging from cocktail attire to black tie.
To start, choose a dress in a fall hue or print. Last week, I talked about fall color trends including orange, burgundy and mustard to name a few.... These shades are a great departure from a typical black dress and match the scenery around you.
Then, add some fall shoes and don't forget the fall layers. I actually wish I had a jacket with me in these photos! It was chilly!! A shawl or jacket and close toed shoes are the perfect finishing touches to a fall wedding look. Stick to dark colors to avoid looking too summery.

I was just thinking, Michelle, that where I'm from (Borneo), wherein there are no seasons (save for hot/dry, and hot/wet), the main consideration when dressing up for a wedding is its ethnic origin :) if it's an Asian wedding, be sure to wear anything but black. If it's a Malay wedding, stay away from yellow. If it's a native wedding, then you'll need to investigate a little further, i.e., which ethnic tribe, etc. How different worlds are across continents GRIN
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! I agree that when you are attending a religious wedding, it is important to keep the customs and traditions in mind as well
