Summer has come to an end but that doesn't mean you want to lose your summer glow (at least, not if you're like me - I prefer to look bronzed all year round when possible!). Colder months are the times when I really step up my spray tan/self tanner game.
PRE SPRAY TAN:
- get your nails done first. You don't want to be soaking your hands or feet after your spray tan.
- shower, shave & exfoliate. Try to do this at least 24 hours prior to your appointment
- do not apply any makeup, lotions or deodorant
- take off all jewelry
-wear loose, dark colored color to your appointment
POST SPRAY TAN:
- avoid taking a shower for 8-12 hours (or as directed) to let the color soak in.
-once you do shower, pat dry rather than rubbing with a towel.
-keep your skin moisturized so your color lasts as long as possible

AND if you prefer not to visit a salon for a spray tan, here are 2 at home self tanners that I LOVE:
You apply this one in the shower once you turn the water off. Simply rub small amounts all over arms/legs/chest/etc and then pat dry with a towel. It leaves you feeling non sticky with no scent and a great all over color without any streaks. This tanner is by far my favorite right now.
I love these towelettes for an easy all over tan. One wipe covers my whole body & leaves me with a great glow in just a few hours. Just be sure to wash your hands after using the wipe!
Which self tanner products do you recommend I try?

I've never tried spray tan, I always fear it won't look natural on my skin
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend seeing an airbrush artist for your first time rather than one of those automatic spray tan booths. A person can help you choose the right color.
DeleteThese are great tips for self-tanning! I like spray tans the most because of how even then appear. I'm terrible when it comes to self tanning products. Lol!

Me too! The Jergens isn't streaky at all! I highly recommend it
DeleteI used to self tan all the time. In fact, I think I still have some....I wonder if it goes bad?
ReplyDeleteGreat tip about getting your nails done first...I would have never thought of that.

I think it does after a year or so! Check for an expiration to make sure the color still comes out nicely ;)
DeleteGreat tips dear!
