JEWEL TONES

Last week, I talked about how texture is one of my favorite trends for fall.  Leather, denim and suede are so versatile and can be so easily mixed or matched to create different looks.  Last week, I wore this suede dress and earlier this week, I wore this suede dress - both times choosing to match my dress with a pair of suede shoes.

Today, I am showing how easy it is to mix up different textures in one look by wearing a chambray top, leather skirt and suede shoes.

CHAMBRAY + LACE

 

A chambray top is the perfect transitional top when you don't feel like wearing a jacket in the early spring days, since it is a little bit thicker than a normal t-shirt.  I have been wearing my Express chambray top to death lately!

It's no secret that I love denim - jeans, chambray tops, my denim jacket, you name it - I wear it, often! All of these denim pieces look great on their own, but why not take a fashion risk and pair your denim pieces together?  The key to pulling off this look is to mix the shades of blue and keep the accessories modern and fun.

CHAMBRAY JUMPSUIT

 I am obsessed with flash tattoos lately!  They are exactly the same as other temporary tattoos  except these are metallic & look like jewelry when wrapped around a wrist or an ankle.  You can purchase your own sheet of tattoos here or check around in stores -  I found a sheet for only $8!

I can't put into words how much I love this jumpsuit - I picture it looking great with a blazer & flats or worn as overalls with a sweater & booties once the temperature drops.  For now, I love it with some hints of gold.

J & I had a rare, coinciding day off last week.  We decided to take advantage of our free time & head out to East Hampton for a night.  Unfortunately, the weather was less than stellar, but that didn't stop us from taking a trip to the beach in the morning.  We spent the rest of the day eating lunch in Sag Harbor, shopping in East Hampton & visiting with my family.  Not the worst way to spend a day if you ask me ;)

I recently received a fun box full of Mary Kay cosmetics to try out for spring.  I have known of the brand Mary Kay for years, but had never used their products before, so I was excited to see what they would send & if they would fit into my daily low maintenance routine. I have to say, most of the products worked great & I plan on ordering a few in the near future. 

The photos in today's post show a full face of Mary Kay cosmetics.  Since then, I have stuck to using only my favorites; I already have a few reliable products (see here).  

I'm obsessed with the color of the lip gloss I received (mango tango!). Normally, I don't like using glosses on a day to day basis because of the shine & stickiness, but this gloss was more creamy than sticky. Lucky for me, it comes in a bunch more colors!  I also love the cream eye shadow color & the gel eyeliner & how long lasting both were. Plus, the application was simple thanks to the brushes that came along with them.

canadian tuxedo

No longer is denim on denim reserved only for Canadian weddings or Britney & Justin circa 2001 at the American Music Awards. I love the denim on denim look & it is surprisingly easy to pull off as long as you make sure your denims are different shades; case in point, my light chambray top paired with dark blue skinny jeans.  Give it a shot!
