OFF THE SHOULDER PASTEL DRESS

A quick post after a busy weekend - our friends got married yesterday!!! The groom pulled off such a fun day out East & surprised the bride with a wedding! How sweet is that??!  After that, J & I headed straight to the NY Rangers game, so needless to say, Sunday was a busy one! On the bright side, we finally had a day that actually felt like spring so I was able to pull out this mint green dress! (This piece would be perfect for Easter & into the summer. I also love the idea of wearing it to the beach.)

BOMBER JACKET & PLEATED SKIRT

Is it just me or are these two pieces EVERYWHERE right now?! I keep seeing pleated skirts & bomber jackets styled in different ways & it makes me want to wear them all day every day in a different way. I've seen pleated skirts styled with classic button downs, casual tee shirts & sporty sweatshirts while bombers have been through over dresses, jumpsuits & jeans. It seems almost impossible to find a bad way to style a pleated skirt or a bomber.

Believe it or not, today's post is actually slightly St Patrick's Day inspired! I'm not Irish & green isn't my favorite color, so I went for a more subtle forest green shade but I still think this bomber jacket is a great piece for this week to nonchalantly dress in the spirit of St. Patrick. Adding green to my look was surprisingly easier than I had originally thought because there are so many different shades. Looking back, I wear green more often than I realized: in a statement coat, an olive dress, a pencil skirt, even a jumpsuit.

ONE STOP SHOP FOR TRENDY & CLASSIC ITEMS

When greenery got announced as the 2017 color of the year, I was a little unsure about it. I loved (& still love) last year's rose quartz & serenity shades, but greenery was a color that I didn't normally wear so automatically I felt a little out of my comfort zone at the thought of wearing it. The more I heard about the color greenery though, the more I thought I should give it a chance. The Pantone Color Institute writes 'Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment...Greenery symbolizes the re-connection we seek with...one another and a larger purpose.' With all that's been going on in the news lately, I thought there was no better time to introduce some greenery into my wardrobe.

MY FAVORITE FALL SHADE: OLIVE GREEN

Every season, we have those old reliable favorites and some new favorite trends that get mixed in. I am a long time lover of jewel tones in the fall - burgundy, especially, but even more so than burgundy this season, I have been loving & purchasing all things olive green. Any sweater, jacket or dress that comes in the shade - I choose it. Over the weekend, I purchased a military inspired green sweater dress, recently got an olive bomber jacket and today am wearing this gorgeous olive & black polka dot dress from the Eva Mendes Collection at NY & Company.
