3 PIECES TO WEAR IN EARLY SPRING

Spring weather is slowly but surely creeping it's way in & I am so excited! Today I'm sharing 3 easy pieces to start wearing as the weather transitions. 

1. Peep toe booties - Time to swap your winter boots for a pair of peep toe booties. These are the perfect compromise of a bootie & a sandal, just a hint of a pretty pedicure but your foot is still basically covered up. I love wearing this pair with everything from jeans to dresses to joggers.

2. Leather Jackets - Time to shed your winter coats & opt for more lightweight styles. I love wearing my leather jacket throughout the spring. It's the perfect weight for spring days & adds edginess to all of my outfits, which I love!

3. White Jeans - The easiest way to get in a spring state of mind in my opinion is to start wearing spring colors. I wore my white jeans throughout the winter, but spring & summer is when they really start to make an appearance in my wardrobe. I love the crisp white color for warm weather.

WEEKEND CASUAL OUTFIT

I mentioned in my post last week that we had a busy weekend coming up & it sure was a busy one. We went to a cake tasting & chose our flavors & cake design with my grandparents! (That was a fun task to check off our list!) Later that day, Jody got some GREAT news regarding his job & then Sunday we spent the day apple & pumpkin picking! Nothing like getting into the fall spirit. This week is looking like it's going to be another busy one - man, I am going to be needing a mental health day pretty soon so that I can stay in bed & catch up on my episodes of Designated Survivor, This is Us & Project Runway! What have you all been up to? Anyone else feeling my exhaustion from being so busy lately?!

HORIZONTAL STRIPES & HINTS OF METALLICS

Is there any one out these who doesn't love stripes? Seriously, they are the best pattern around: coming in every color combo, mixing with other prints perfectly and looking flattering on everyone. Today I'm pairing my horizontal striped sweater with some fun metallic accessories for a little bit of glamour.

I decided to add a bit of masculinity and unexpectedness by pairing these pants & sweater with loafers instead of ballet flats or booties.  J picked out these loafers for me years ago at the Coach outlet and I have never been able to part with them. I was lucky to find them in the back of my closet because loafers. are. back.

To tie the look together, I finished off this outfit with a pair of statement earrings. I rotate the same few dainty pieces of jewelry so it was fun to switch it up with these dangling earrings from Banana Republic. I always avoid buying oversize earrings because of how heavy they get and how they pull on my earlobes but these are backed with leather making them shockingly light weight and wearable for hours on end.

SIMPLE WAYS TO TOUGHEN UP FLORAL PRINT

Floral is one of my favorite prints to wear once spring comes around.  After long winters full of heavy fabrics & dark colors, I love shedding some layers & wearing patterns that imitate the blooming flowers around me.  However, since I consider my style to be more 'casual' and 'edgy' than feminine, I love adding edgy touches to my floral prints to make my outfits look a bit tough as opposed to super girly.

ME & MY TEDDY

Channeling Kendall Jenner & wearing a few pieces that she has been spotted in repeatedly today (Stan Smiths, fur & leather pants to be exact).  Truly, this girl has the best street style & Kardashian's aside, has really made a name for herself as a model. #GirlBoss. I love Kendall's effortless street style looks & the way she mixes textures & styles like luxe fur with casual sneakers or edgy leather pants with a casual tee.  I kept my look neutral colored a la Kendall Jenner and love how this off duty look turned out.

HIGHLAND

New year, same favorite color!  These boots have been on my lust list for what seems like forever & finally Santa Claus [ ;) ] made them mine! A few days after the holidays, this perfectly matching leather jacket from Harmony & Havoc landed in my hands & I have could not have been happier.  I knew right away that I would pair the boots & jacket to create what is sure to be one of my favorite January outfits!

Designer collaborations have always been exciting to me.  I loved shopping Phillip Lim for Target, Lauren Conrad for Kohl's and Kate Spade for Keds, but none excited me more than when Eva Mendes first released a collection for NY & Company. 

Last week, NY & Company launched the newest Eva Mendes Collection just in time for the holidays.  The collection is full of clothing and accessories in rich jewel toned colors, feminine floral patterns and sophisticated styles.

RIGHT TO BARE ARMS

I am obsessed with sleeveless turtleneck tops right now.  I can't stop buying them; my closet currently holds a total of three. I'm not really sure that these tops actually make much sense - if it's cold enough to need a turtleneck, shouldn't you also need sleeves?  But whatever, sometimes the best fashions don't make sense (remember wedge sneakers?! I loved my pair)

Right now, while the weather is still deciding whether it wants to be cold or not, these sleeveless sweaters are perfect on their own, & in a few weeks, when it really starts get cold, they will look great paired with a button down underneath or an additional sweater on top!

I love that this top combines navy and black - an old, fashion faux-pas that I think actually creates a super chic look.  Both shades need to be rich and saturated rather than faded to look great.  I also love the idea of mixing and matching textures when wearing black and navy, so I added leather pants and suede boots to this knit top.   A bright bag and vampy lip finish off the look perfectly.



When the temperatures plummet, this look can easily be recreated with the addition of a boyfriend style button down top underneath.  I love a layered look and a crisp white top will really pop against the darker shades.

SEQUINS BEFORE SUNSET

Who decided that sequins and sparkle should be reserved for night time??  These sequin leggings are one of my favorite pieces in my closet and I hate the idea of having to wait for a dressy night out to wear them.  

With a casual button down, simple shoes and an edgy jacket, these leggings are totally transformed into a daytime appropriate look!
