LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Today I'm sharing an easy but stylish Labor Day outfit that I wore over this past weekend. My family were supposed to go out East but tropical Hermine ruined those plans so we stuck around town prepared for rain & windy conditions, but as of last night, still nothing in NY! (knock on wood!)
 Anyways, towards the end of the summer, I get super excited about wearing fall clothing, but have certain items that I'm never quite ready to pack away. Exhibit A: my denim shorts. I am giving them a few last wears & pairing them with some long sleeves tops & lightweight sweaters to ease my way into transitioning to fall. This ruffle, striped top is not only perfect for Labor Day weekend but also going to be so much fun to wear with skinny jeans into the fall.

RAINY DAY STYLE

No doubt this April has been full of showers, so my rain boots have been getting a lot of usage. I love, love, love my Hunter boots (I also have a yellow pair)! They are so great in the rain & snow to keep my feet warm and dry, plus the fun colors brighten up any gray day!

EMBROIDERED JACKET

By the time February rolls around, I am honestly just about done with sweater weather & start craving spring pieces.  Since it is still so cold, dresses & skirts are pretty much out of the question, but lightweight jackets & even flats can be introduced into my wardrobe again.  By adding a thick sweater under this embroidered jacket, I am able to make it appropriate for this month's winter weather.

CHOOSING A TREE

One more post today before I take a few days off from blogging to celebrate Christmas this weekend! Probably my favorite tradition of the holiday season is the hunt to find our Christmas tree each year.  It's a really tough process - lots of  measuring, examining the trees from different angles & running back and forth between trees to compare - until we find the perfect one!

A cozy outfit is perfect for spending the day outdoors & pops of red keep this look festive!

WRAPPED UP

These are definitely some of the most giggle-y photos I have ever taken. J had some interesting ideas for my umbrella prop this morning... Some of them worked out better than others ;)

I am obsessed with my Aerie blanket scarf.  I toss it on over outfits all the time to add a little extra punch & pop of color.   Every time I wear it, I feel like I am wrapped up in a blanket.   For this look, I decided to switch up a normal scarf look & belt mine to create a poncho.  I love this scarf paired with my red rain boots - they match SO perfectly!

Another rainy day, another pair of rain boots...but on the bright side, it's Friday! 

While taking these photos, J teased "you look so cute today! When are you going to stop dressing like a kid?" 

I enjoy getting putting together outfits, almost, every morning (except for those occasional days when nothing fits, or nothing looks good, or everything is in the laundry...but everyone has those days, right???).  I dress based on how I feel that day & what vibe I want to give off to the world.  Some days, I dress super casual, other days I enjoy a bit of edge in my outfits & yet there are days when I am a bit more dressy or feminine. It all depends on my mood.  I enjoy all black attire, while other times, I can't get enough color.  SO my answer to when my style will "grow up?"  Never. :)

DAISY PRINT DRESS

The NY forecast has predicted rain all week, so I have been getting plenty of use out of my Hunter boots. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of large patterns or floral prints, however when I saw this dress at the store last weekend I knew I had to have it.  The daisy print is not only spring-like & fun (not to mention, matches my yellow boots perfectly), it also reminds me of my first pet, a cat named Daisy. She has since passed away, but I am still a sucker for anything daisy-related - especially the flower,  or in this case, the pattern.

Happy rainy Friday here in NY. Don't these boots remind you of classic children's rain boots?  They remind me of the rainy day outfits in the Madeline books, not to mention, yellow happens to be my favorite color.  They add a bit of sunshine on my feet during a gray day.

PS. If you're thinking of buying Hunter boots for spring, first of all, they are the best purchase I've ever made.  I'm a huge believer in cost/wear. In other words, divide the total cost of the item by the number of times you will wear it...is the price still worth it? In the case of Hunter boots, my answer is YES. Secondly, I found them to run fairly large & was able to purchase the kids' size boot. The only differences are the reflectors on the back & the shaft of the boot is a few inches shorter, plus they are cheaper (!)
