TRANSITIONING TO FALL WITH STITCH FIX

For me, every fall means lots and lots of shopping. For some reason, I never do as much shopping for any season as I do for fall - anyone else?? I think the options of layers & new styles excites me! To help welcome in a new season, I decided to place an order for a new box on Stitch Fix! Today I'm wearing 2 of the items that came in my box!

This time around I felt my box catered to both the end of summer as well as the beginning of fall. My box included a Skies are Blue Cutout Detail Blouse - the colors were bold & bright & the cutout details were perfect for the end of summer; a THML dress similar to this one that I kept from my last box although this time the dress was pink which again, catered more to summer styles. This Cloth & Stone cold shoulder top & the Octavia Floral Print Infinity Scarf were also included and I thought they not only looked great together but were perfect for the beginning of fall! I decided to keep both!

MY FAVORITE WINTER ACCESSORIES

I'm so mad at myself for taking these photos BEFORE it snowed; I have a feeling they would have looked so much better with a little winter wonderland around me, but then again, the weather is unpredictable and I wanted to make sure I had a post done for today, so you win some, you lose some, & if you are interested in seeing some snow, check out tomorrow's post ;) Rant over.
Today's post is all about winter accessories. When the weather is freezing, as it usually is throughout all of January & February, I wear my black North Face puffer coat everyday. It can get kind of boring & repetitive so it's super fun for me to add a scarf & hat to my look. It's amazing what these accessories can do to switch up the styling of my coat & also how much added warmth they provide.

ONE ACCESSORY, 4 WAYS

Earlier this week, I mentioned how much I love cold weather accessories; today I'm sharing another must have winter accessory: the blanket scarf. Blanket scarves are not only great for freezing temps (they expertly block the wind & cold air) but these chunky scarves also are a great statement piece. CHANNELING JESSICA ALBA

If I could have one celebrity's closet, it would have to be Jessica Alba. I love, love, love Olivia Palermo, Taylor Swift & Sienna Miller's styles but Jessica Alba has the most perfect casual street style. She always looks so effortlessly put together and chic. (Can you tell I have a huge girl crush going on??!) I saw a super similar look to the one I am wearing on Jessica Alba and knew that I would be able to recreate it with pieces in my closet. I am loving the way this look turned out & it only takes 4 easy pieces.

Jessica Alba is a known jean queen in the style world, but I love how she switched up her basic skinny jeans and wore a paired of coated leather jeans. I love wearing my black leather jeans during the fall/winter. They are perfect with chunky knits or lots of layers.

An anorak jacket is a must have style right now. I usually wear mine as a raincoat, so it was fun to style it for a sunny day as part of my outfit.

As the weather cools off, I like to swap my statement necklaces for fun scarves. In this look, I took two lightweight scarves and wrapped them together to create a unique and fun fall colored scarf look. (Not to mention, 2 scarves keeps me warmer than 1!)

I planned to wear my SJP red pumps, however the fall leaves everywhere have been super slippery, so I have been looking for a sturdy heel that is easier to walk around in, but also super cute and polished!

BUNDLED IN NAVY & BURGUNDY

Burgundy & navy are 100% two of the colors that I wore most this season. I have worn burgundy booties, burgundy dresses and a burgundy skirt as well as styled a navy look for work, a navy wrap dress and a navy sleeveless sweater. But the one piece that I have felt has been missing from my closet all season is a pair of navy booties. Finally, today, my closet is complete (at least for this week) thanks to these cute boots from Skechers!

A TOUCH OF FRINGE

Don't get me wrong, I love basics but when I have the choice between a classic item and a statement piece, I almost always choose the statement piece; I love that little bit of uniqueness and surprise in a piece of clothing or an accessory. This is true when it comes to tops, shoes, bags, etc.

This white blouse and the burgundy booties that I am wearing today are the perfect examples. Both are classic items with a bit of added flair. I love the over-sized shape of this top and the fun ruffled sleeves, as well as the fringe detail on my booties, not to mention the color!

Can you believe I have had these wedges since high school?! I just can't bear to part with them. They were one of my first pair of wedges/heels & even though I barely wear them anymore, they are so comfortable & a great conversation starter - I have yet to see another pair of booties as funky as these.
Everyone seems to have that one piece they can't get rid of...what's yours?

I am off from work today for a fun reason! It's my sister's birthday! So, I want to take a moment to send her a special birthday shoutout & gush about how awesome she is. My sister has grown into the most fun, most beautiful 20 year old. I am so blessed to have her in my life as my friend, confidant & shopping buddy. I'm also pretty lucky that we share some DNA & turned out to be the same size in clothing - because she has great fashion sense. Love you sis. Here's to another decade ;)

Today's outfit is the epitome of my go-to outfit when I have nothing to wear: a well-fitting pair of skinny jeans, comfortable flats & a scarf for an added pop of color. This scarf is especially awesome since, as we were photographing this outfit, I was informed that it belonged to my grandmother!
